I have taught drawing and painting for many years but have most fun sharing my love and knowledge of watercolor painting with my students. By sharing this passion, it brings up memories of when I used to carry a Prang tin of eight colors with me wherever I went; camping trips, beach vacations and babysitting jobs.

In college I studied fine arts and painted with oils, acrylics, and pastels, but I always returned to watercolors. For me, I enjoy the simplicity and ease that this medium offers. I am comfortable with the flow of color washes and the blending of new ones on the paper. I get excited about the unexpected that watercolors can create by allowing the pigments and water to play with each other and in the mysterious ways that the pigment dries.  I hope to share this enthusiasm with my students and help them discover the delight and magic of watercolor painting.

Through the introduction and practice of a few basic techniques, students will have a weekly theme to complete which will encourage experimentation and offer the opportunity to gain confidence.  This may sound a bit complex, but the good news is that it is easier than you might think!  If you are open to learning and practice the basics and are willing to show up with a spirit of experimentation, you will discover the beautiful and rewarding results of playing with watercolors.
